Carlos Álvarez-Montero is a Mexico-based photographer with over 20 years of experience working across commercial, editorial, and documentary photography. His work moves fluidly between worlds — from major brand campaigns to raw, deeply human stories rooted in Latin American culture and identity.
With frequent projects in the United States, he brings a bicultural perspective that few photographers can offer: the visual language of international commercial work, grounded in an honest, unfiltered gaze shaped by decades of documenting real people and real places.
His personal projects — spanning communities in Michoacán, Harlem, and the Bronx — have established him as a storyteller as much as a photographer. That same eye for cultural truth is what drives his commercial work, making it resonate beyond the frame.
He is also the founder of OJO MX, a creative production company based in Mexico City.
